Marta Jagniewska

Screenwriter, playwright, and journalist. Graduated (MA) in Culture Studies at Adam Mickiewicz University in Poznan, in playwriting with Tadeusz Słobodzianek’s Drama Lab, and in creative writing at PAN. She has won multiple scholarships from the Ministry of Culture, the Warsaw Culture Bureau, the Marshal of the Wielkopolska Region, and other cultural institutions. She is a laureate of several contests including „The Metaphors of Reality” – playwriting contest in Poznań, and the „Short films on Marszałkowska St” short film script competition. Marta has cooperated with such institutions as Teatr Nowy and the Zamek Culture Centre in Poznań, the „Grodzka Gate – NN Theatre” Centre in Lublin, Zachęta Gallery, the Centre for Contemporary Art in Warsaw, and the Nikiel Gallery in Wrocław.

She is an author of many plays and short film screenplays. In her work in theater she has made projects with young people from Chechnya and blind children. As a journalist she wrote for many artistic and lifestyle magazines where she published film and theatre reviews, articles about architecture, design, theater and travel, including „The Theatre Notebook”, „Time of Culture”, „Culture.pl”, „Futu Paper” and „Futu.pl”, „Enter the Room” and „Girls Room”.

Marta is also a co-creator of radio plays, dance theater performances and video art. She believes in collaboration, meeting and exchange. She likes to combine disciplines, travel to unobvious places and follow her intuition.
